Matthew 28:18-20

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age” ~ Matthew 28:18-20

Jesus is our High Priest, our Mediator, and all things in this universe are under Him for the purpose of Redemption. He is come to redeem His people from sin, from separation, so that we might enjoy Him as we were created to do. He is also our Defender in that He has subdued our enemies and made us conquerors in Him! His government extends over this pluralistic, material world, over angels, over devils, over evil persons and over those who believe in Him. He is our LORD. His command then, to you and to me, is that because we have His backing, His support, His defense, and even though we are weak, in Him we are strong and are sent. The work He has for us will be accomplished because He has already won the battle! We are instructed to make disciples in His name. We make disciples by teaching them the gospel message, we teach them by mentoring, we teach them by helping them trust God through the messy stuff that may come into their lives. We don’t teach them by proclaiming God and Jesus are all “lovey dovey” and that nothing bad will happen to them. God is love, but we still live in a broken world. Now we have a Saviour that that is on our side, that will give us the strength and the courage to make it through the ups and downs of this life. This is what we need to teach. The Three-In-One, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are with us, even to the end of the age! Amen!
