Hebrews 10:24-25 “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”

If there is anything that is needed in today’s world, it is encouragement. As we look around at the world and the politics and the wars and see the antagonism between peoples and countries it all vies for our attention. It in fact screams at us everyday to listen, to be absorbed, and to cringe in its wake. There is no good news out there in the world! No, we will not find our encouragement in the world around us – unless! Unless we live in the love of Jesus Christ! Our churches are still a place where the Good News is announced. Are we all perfect? No, not one, for none of us are perfect, but we do know someone who is Perfect! Our Lord Jesus, and our Lord is in control of all things that pertain to this world in which we live. The world has been the same since the fall of Adam with turmoil and hardships, but the message of Jesus is for us to come to Him and He will give us rest and peace. When our days become heavy, that is the time to turn to our friends in Christ and to meet together for encouragement. When we seclude ourselves, we live with the fears and anxieties that fill our minds and hearts. When we gather, we can unburden with those that surround us and remember why we are gathered together – because the love of Christ has bound us as sisters and brothers under the banner of a loving and caring God. We do not know when Christ will return and take us all to be with him and a new heaven and new earth will be created. We however do know that we are to be prepared and ready. We can only do this with the encouragement of those who also share in our faith and trust in the God who is faithful. When we encourage each other to look up, not at the TV screen, but up into the heavens, then we will find the answers to all the problems of life. My Jesus, your Jesus is with us all, and where and when we are gathered together, there he is also!

Nothing is working, everything seems to be against us. We do not know how to move forward, so we remain curled up in a ball. Then, a glimmer of light shines through! Fools find no pleasure in understanding but delight in sharing their own opinions ~ Proverbs 18:2 If we are going to understand something, we must fully digest it so that when we speak, we speak with wisdom. When we have only half truths in our mind, our words become empty and senseless. We then puff out air rather than understanding when we speak. A wise person will want to improve their mind through learning in various ways from the world around them. A person who delights in spiritual understanding will find peace and enjoyment in reading the Word of God on a daily basis, and in participating with God’s people in a learning and praising environment – the church!
