Romans 10:10

For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved ~ Romans 10:10

We cannot know God with our head. Our thoughts do not lead us to God until our heart is in action. The brain cannot contain the Gospel, and neither can our tongue for that matter. The work has to take place in the heart, and until that happens, faith and confession of Christ will not happen. It is in the heart where Christ stirs us and moves us through the power of the Holy Spirit to know the truth. Our faith works through love to Christ; it is a heart action. Justification does not come by knowing about Christ, but by knowing Christ intimately. When our soul reaches out toward the One who is already reaching for us, it receives the righteousness which comes from Him alone. The peace that fills the soul at that moment brings great joy, and then it is hard for our mouth to contain that enjoyment to ourselves, and we must proclaim it to any who will listen! We then confess by both our words and the facts, and both must be openly visible to all who look upon us to see that it is real and sincere.
