Genesis 3:15
And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel ~ Genesis 3:15
As we draw closer to Christmas, I want to draw on prophecies of the Old Testament for my devotions, beginning today from the beginning of the Bible. As God speaks to the serpent which is Satan, God gives a warning of what will be. The devil seduced Eve in the garden, making her believe that if she ate the apple she would be more blessed than she was already. In hindsight we of course know this is not to be so, for her choice brought death and sin into our world, and separation between us and God in our relationship. There was only one way to bring restoration into that relationship, and that being through Jesus Christ. Eve's offspring are of course you and me, but first and foremost, Christ is her offspring. It was His job alone to bruise the head of Satan, to destroy his powers and prowress. By striking the head of Satan, Jesus, through the death which Satan believed would put an end to His reign and power, was resurrected to overcome Satan. Jesus took away the sting of death. Satan may have put into the minds of men to "bruise his heel" by having him hung on a cross, but Jesus through the power of God the Father was the overcomer. There is still a battle for souls of mankind, but Jesus won the battle forever as He came as a man-child, born in a manger, to deliver us from the curse and power of Satan. Will you believe in Jesus today and be free of the curse?
