Micah 5:2

“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,
though you are small among the clans of Judah,
out of you will come for me
one who will be ruler over Israel,
whose origins are from of old,
from ancient times” ~ Micah 5:2
Bethlehem Ephrathah is a combination of old and new names for this little town. How significant that what was known as a fruitful but small place is where the Saviour was born. This is the little town where Naomi returned with her daughter-in-law, Ruth, and where the great grandfather of King David was born. It is an encouragement to God's people that the Messiah, the Promised One, would be of the line of David, and it is the prophecy which was well known. When King Herod the Great asked the Priests where this King the Wise Men, or Sages, we're looking for was to be born, this is the place of which they spoke. Bethlehem Ephrathah, the "house of bread" which would feed thousands upon thousands from the teachings of the One born within her place. The Messiah who would one day save the world. The Messiah who would bring in a government not of this world, but of another, to bring harmony between God and mankind. The Messiah who would set a revolution in place on the world's principles and belief systems, turning them all upside down. Christ, born in a lowly village. : "He who had taken the form of a servant, chose Bethlehem for His Birth, Jerusalem for His Passion."
