Romans 4:7

Blessed are those whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered ~ Romans 4:7

These are words written by David, and here Paul quotes them to make his point that we do not work for our salvation, but that it is a free gift. The one who trusts God is justified by God, and what a blessed position this is to find oneself. We are forgiven, not to keep on sinning, but so that our lives with God would be filled to overflowing. It is in His grace we find freedom from our past, from our yesterday’s. It is in Him we move on into the present and the future. Paul affirms that since we are forgiven by God’s grace, we cannot take pride in what we have done, for we have done nothing to deserve His grace. We cannot behave good enough, or speak well enough, or even love enough to be forgiven. It is by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross who took our sin upon Himself that we are brought into saving grace. Our sins were covered by Jesus sacrifice. We are blessed because we are free! Free from shame and remorse, free from addictions and obsessions, free from wants and desires, free to live in Jesus Christ!
