Matthew 18:3-5

And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me ~ Matthew 18:3-5

The faith of a child is precious. They trust without question, they believe without doubt, they speak truth without hesitation. A child is innocent, and pure. A child finds delight in the simple things – a touch, a smile, a kind word. A child holds your hand and walks with you, following your moves. Is it any wonder Jesus said we are to take on the position of a child? As adults, we question and doubt, we forget to hold onto the hand of Jesus and we walk on our own, sometimes to our own destruction. As adults we often hide the truth in speech for fear of hurting feelings, which we do not want to do, but which is sometimes also an excuse for our lie. As an adult, we are more often apt to be corrupted by the world, or finances, or sex. As an adult, at times the simple things are not enough, and we want more than we need, never content with our situation. Is it any wonder Jesus said we are to take the position of a child?
