Proverbs 22:6
Start
children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will
not turn from it ~ Proverbs 22:6
Children’s
minds are perceptive and open, trusting and believing. Is it any wonder Jesus
told us we must have the mind of a child so that we may enter into heaven?
(Matt 19:14). What we teach then when they are young takes hold of their young
minds and hearts, and the promise here is, that it will never depart from them.
Yet, often, we see our children take wandering routes in life, and we grieve
for them. I know I am not the only one who has a prodigal child or grandchildren.
It is hard in today’s world to keep our children and successive generations
interested in following Jesus. In today’s world there are too many other
options (which I call mini-gods) and the world beckons with a loud voice. But,
this I do know…the Word of God is still in their heart. It comes out every now
and again. Just for example, a granddaughter sent me a song on messenger and wrote,
“I think you will like this song…” It was a Christian based song called “Dear
Me”. The image was anime, but the song was about Jesus shedding His blood for
the singer. So, we pray for our children and our grandchildren, that they will
come back to the teaching of their youth, and then when they are old, they will
bear the cross of Jesus in their own life and live for Him! This is a promise
from God!
