Acts 1:8


But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth ~ Acts 1:8

We do not witness by our own power, we do not live in our own power, we do not praise God from our own power! All the power we have comes from the Holy Spirit, and His presence is known within our own spirit. To the first disciples, these words were said to console them; the Holy Spirit would come to them and grant them the power of speaking with new tongues and to preach the gospel with great effect. When exactly this would happen, they did not know. Then Pentecost arrived, and the Holy Spirit fire fell upon them and a wind blew amongst them, and Jesus breathed His Holy Spirit into them! And in great boldness they came out from hiding in that upper room and proclaimed the Good News of Jesus Christ! And that same Holy Spirit is breathed into us, and we too have the power from Him to witness to the ends of the earth. It is the Holy Spirit which makes Christ known to us, otherwise we would not recognize Him, for the fool says in his heart, “there is no God.” For those of us who have received Christ as our Saviour, we heard the Holy Spirit speak His truth, and now we have the personal, indwelling Sanctifier and abiding Comforter within us, and within we have all the explosive power we need to blow all our sin out the door, and to destroy the devil’s kingdom wherever we go. We have the victory in the Holy Spirit! Praise God!

Fools find no pleasure in understanding but delight in sharing their own opinions ~ Proverbs 18:2 If we are going to understand something, we must fully digest it so that when we speak, we speak with wisdom. When we have only half truths in our mind, our words become empty and senseless. We then puff out air rather than understanding when we speak. A wise person will want to improve their mind through learning in various ways from the world around them. A person who delights in spiritual understanding will find peace and enjoyment in reading the Word of God on a daily basis, and in participating with God’s people in a learning and praising environment – the church! Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert ~ Isaiah 43:19 When we meet a challenge, we are often found discouraged, lost, even hopeless. Nothing is working, everything seems to be against us. We do not know how to move forward, so we remain curled up in a ball. Then, a glimmer of light shines through! Hope is regained and movement is stirred within. Don’t we become excited when we begin to feel it? God moves like that. We cannot see our way around it, but He can and does. And He makes a way for us out of the calamity of our fears. It is the feeling of springtime after a long winter, or the smell of fresh cut grass.
