Exodus 14:14

The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still ~ Exodus 14:14

This is the great escape story! The Israelites had just fled from Pharaoh and Egypt, and were now being pursued in the desert. Great fear came upon all the people, and they asked, “Was it because there were no graves in Egypt that you brought us to the desert to die”? Moses assures them with these words: “Be calm, be quiet, and let the Lord do His work!” They are words for us today too. Do you have a battle on your hands? Let the Lord fight it! Do you have anxieties about life issues, and you don’t know which way to turn? Be still before the Lord and seek His way. We are so determined to do our own fighting, to find our own way out of a situation. “I can do this,” we say, except that soon we make a minor situation into a major catastrophe! We jump ahead of the Lord. I know that it is hard to wait on the Lord and wait for Him to fight for you! I have experienced the agony of the wait! Trusting in what we cannot see is painful! But, it is also so faith-building! For when the battle is over, we are clearly able to see the Lord’s hand in it all, and know that His timing is always right when we place our fight in His hands. The outcome is always for our best when God’s hand is upon it. Be patient, my friend, for whatever battle you are fighting is not above what the Lord can handle. Wait, in quiet stillness of the soul, and let Him do the fighting for you! He will not let you down!
