Proverbs 19:21


Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails ~ Proverbs 19:21

My heart, in the bigger world of God is very little. It thinks only of me, trying to put into place that which will either benefit, or sometimes degrade me. It schemes its own devices, and those devices may be open communication while others may be dark and reserved. If all that was in our heart was revealed, what we would see! Jesus said that all manner of evil comes from the heart (Matthew 15:19). He also said that where our treasure is, there our heart will be found (Matthew 6:21). We, unfortunately, think much in our heart which is contrary to God and His will. This is why when we make plans, we must consider what God has in mind for us. When we make plans with Him, we can then say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that” (James 4:15). For the truth is, God sees things bigger than we do; God’s plans are bigger than our little heart, and our little thoughts. The other truth is, He wants us to be participators with Him! It is about His will, but His will is always what is best because it brings the best! Our plans alone will not stop God from bringing about His eternal plan, but when our plans are placed in God’s hand for His guidance, watch out! Then you will see what God can and will do to you and through you! He will accomplish in the world, in His providence, and in His grace, His decrees in everything that comes to pass.

Fools find no pleasure in understanding but delight in sharing their own opinions ~ Proverbs 18:2 If we are going to understand something, we must fully digest it so that when we speak, we speak with wisdom. When we have only half truths in our mind, our words become empty and senseless. We then puff out air rather than understanding when we speak. A wise person will want to improve their mind through learning in various ways from the world around them. A person who delights in spiritual understanding will find peace and enjoyment in reading the Word of God on a daily basis, and in participating with God’s people in a learning and praising environment – the church! We come together in corporate worship with the understanding that not one of us knows all things, but we bend our mind and heart to learn what God has to show and say to us. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert ~ Isaiah 43:19 When we meet a challenge, we are often found discouraged, lost, even hopeless. Nothing is working, everything seems to be against us. We do not know how to move forward, so we remain curled up in a ball. Then, a glimmer of light shines through! Hope is regained and movement is stirred within. Don’t we become excited when we begin to feel it? God moves like that. We cannot see our way around it, but He can and does.
