John 7:38


Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them ~ John 7:38

It requires faith to believe in Jesus. Faith, we know is believing in what we cannot see. It is, in the case of the modern Christian, believing in the Scriptures, in the history, in the story, of God in and through Jesus Christ. It is believing in One who still has the power to heal, to transform, to deliver the sick of soul and of mind and of body. Belief is to come or to approach by faith, Jesus Christ. From Him, when we embrace Him as our own Saviour, come His wisdom, power, righteousness, purity, life. From Him come the gifts of the Holy Spirit, which indwells within us. And from Him comes the rich abundance to satisfy us to the full. We are not the source of this living water, however, our source is the Holy Spirit which grants to us spiritual satisfaction and enables us to bear fruit for our Lord. Receiving this Living Water requires that we do come to Him, and that we receive from Him forgiveness, and that as we receive His forgiveness, we forgive ourselves. Too often I fear we stop us His flow of Water within us by forgetting that as He forgave us, so we must let go of our past and let His healing power wash over us. Living water cannot flow through a stopped-up pipe. It is time to let the waters flow, it is time to know that in Jesus we can have to the fullest measure light, love, and freedom through the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Fools find no pleasure in understanding but delight in sharing their own opinions ~ Proverbs 18:2 If we are going to understand something, we must fully digest it so that when we speak, we speak with wisdom. When we have only half truths in our mind, our words become empty and senseless. We then puff out air rather than understanding when we speak. A wise person will want to improve their mind through learning in various ways from the world around them. A person who delights in spiritual understanding will find peace and enjoyment in reading the Word of God on a daily basis, and in participating with God’s people in a learning and praising environment – the church! Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert ~ Isaiah 43:19 When we meet a challenge, we are often found discouraged, lost, even hopeless. Nothing is working, everything seems to be against us. We do not know how to move forward, so we remain curled up in a ball. Then, a glimmer of light shines through! Hope is regained and movement is stirred within. Don’t we become excited when we begin to feel it? God moves like that. We cannot see our way around it, but He can and does.
