Romans 10:10
For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it
is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved ~ Romans 10:10
This scripture would be part b of yesterday’s readings. Whoever
believes must believe with the heart. We cannot believe with the mind alone;
that is head knowledge. When we believe in Jesus as the Son of God, we need to
know Him through heart knowledge. Belief is the beginning point, for sure, but
we are meant to grasp this belief and then proclaim it. When we believe from
our heart, we are convicted of our sins and our unrighteousness before our God,
and we enter into repentance. Therein, we are justified, as was God’s plan from
the beginning. That is, the moment we believe, our sins are pardoned. Immediately,
God begins to work in us, to change us and bring transformation. Our words give
voice to that process which is taking place within us, and we make known what
God has done. We share our story of our past and our new future. We can see
then the promises declared throughout God’s word and we lay claim to them
because now we can understand them, and these we share with those around us. A
true Christian will act in faith, live by faith, and believe through faith
which means they will no longer live by what is seen, but will live by things “unseen”,
and as they do this they will leave behind the traps of the world and its hold
on them rejoicing in the Gospel message within.
