James 1:5

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you ~ James 1:5

Wisdom is that quality we gain from experiences in life, and as mature Christians, we become wise as we walk with God seeking His counsel. There is no greater need for wisdom in a Christian’s life than when we face trials, or disappointments, or grief which may come upon us. The kind of wisdom we need during our trials is that which enables us to understand their strategy and trend, and to perform as a Christ follower under them. What are the lessons which God designs to teach us, for there is always a valuable lesson in our affliction. What sins have we caused, and how can we avoid them in the future are thoughts we must be aware of so that we can learn the lesson God has in mind for us. When we complain, murmur, or become rebellious, we lose the benefits we may have been granted had we submitted to the trial in a proper manner. It is therefore, necessary for us to come to God, to bear the case up before God, and to ask God to guide us in the matter we bring before Him. This is a privilege we have – that we can come to our heavenly Father and seek His guidance and know with assurance it will be brought before His throne. The Lord then will supply liberally divine aid and encouragement. He will not find fault for our coming, in fact, He will grant His favour to those who ask of Him. Wisdom is always for our good, and if we come with a right spirit, what is asked will be bestowed by the power of His Holy Spirit. We will then know what is prudent and wise to do when faced with our trial.
