Psalm 1:1

Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers ~ Psalm 1:1

God made every person for happiness. We were all meant to live a blessed life, without trial and tribulation, without poverty and stress, without ill health and death. I am sure there are more than a few of us who would like to go back and have a chat with Adam and Eve to really let them know what would transpire after their decision to eat of the forbidden fruit. But, they probably still would not listen. As it is now, evil has entered our world, including the evil of sickness. We are still blessed by God, for His desire is to bless us, but our blessings have changed from those of the Garden. Every person feels a desire to be happy, but here there are three characters, each exceeding the other in sinfulness. Our three characters walk, then stand, then sit. The first has his unwise counsel, the second has his way, and the third takes his seat. With the COVID-19 running rampant in our world, we see these three people in action. For example, the rush on toilet paper stock piling. The social media has influenced people to believe there will be an end to toilet tissue, so people listening to this counsel, are emptying shelves to store it at home! Fear is the enemy here; it is the unwise counsel. Fear has caused people to believe this story, the second has his way by outlandish purchasing. The seat of the mocker has progressed to murdering for a roll of toilet paper. In Australia, a woman knifed a man over toilet paper. How can we be wise as Christians in this time of unique fear? First, we do not panic. God is in control of all things, and we are to keep our faith and trust strong and sure in Him. Even if we contract the disease, we are in His hands! Second, we make sure everyone we know is safe financially. If we can help someone who has to stay home without pay, reach out. Seek for God’s best to come out in you as you reach out to others. Third, modify your life for others, especially those who are the vulnerable. With this disease it tends to be those with other health issues or with advanced age. These are your parents and grandparents. Take care of them. And fourth, pray, intercede for those around the world. There are many today grieving the loss of loved ones, and there will be many more in the days to come. Be a prayer warrior, be a blessing, be wise, and be strong in the Lord.
