Revelation 5:9

And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain,     and with your blood you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation ~ Revelation 5:9

Today is the day when Jesus was betrayed by his disciple, Judas. He was sold for 30 shillings. Judas thought Jesus was on the wrong track; He was supposed to have come to conquer the Romans, to free the people of Israel from their tyranny. Instead He seemed to want only peace and talked about His kingdom being elsewhere. This was not what Judas had signed up for. But also, on this day, another occurrence took place – that of Mary anointing the feet of Jesus. In John 12, the story tells us Mary took a pint of an expensive perfume and wiped His feet with her hair. Of course, Judas was there as well, and he objected to this worship of Jesus, but was told by Jesus to leave her alone. She was preparing Him for His burial. Over the next few days, Jesus walked steadfastly toward His Passion, toward the Cross. Satan had entered Judas, thinking he would stop this path the Son of God was on, He would die on that cross, and that would be the end of God’s ultimate redemptive plan! Little did Satan know but the Cross was God’s plan! The cross which would not hold Him, and death which would not contain Him forever, for with His blood we were all redeemed, purchased as Revelation says, from our sin, our darkness, our separation from Christ! Easter is all about our new song! It is all about the Resurrection of Christ as He conquered the plan of the Enemy and fulfilled the plan of God! Praise God! We do sing a new song! “Redeemed, how I love to proclaim it! Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb! Redeemed through His infinite mercy, His child, and forever, I am Redeemed, Redeemed!” (Gaither Vocal Band, ‘Redeemed’)
