1 Chronicles 16:12

Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced ~ 1 Chronicles 16:12

When we doubt God, or when we feel we are alone in our troubles, this is a good verse to recall and follow. We all go through times when we feel God has left us, that is normal for human beings to feel. There are times when we may sense God closer and times when we do not. Here the Hebrews are reminded that it was God who brought them out of Egypt, out of the oppression they suffered as slaves at the hands of others more powerful than they. God looks in favour at those who are the poor, the downtrodden, the oppressed, and the afflicted. Though we may think He has withdrawn from us, He does not. It is us who withdraw from Him. We forget to depend upon Him, and we leave behind His promises from days past. Our burdens overwhelm us because we put them at the forefront of our thoughts and our heart, setting God to the side. Our dependence upon Him is found in how well we know Him, for if we truly believe He is omnipotent, that is, He is all powerful, we know we are safe in Him. Then, when we encounter some of life’s difficulties we know our troubles are safe in His hands, for He will settle our concerns. Then we will see He is everywhere. This is how our faith grows. Every time we encounter trouble, and every time we lean upon Him and see Him act for us, our faith grows, and we are strengthened in Him. Do not forget what God has done for you in the past, for those memories will carry you into the future in faith, hope, and strength.
