The
bolts of your gates will be iron and bronze, and your strength will equal your
days ~ Deuteronomy 33:25
There
are times when our duties and responsibilities seem to overwhelm us. They rise
up before us like great mountain peaks, so much so that we question who can surmount
these things which we face. We need to remember God asks us to only face one
day at a time. Here is a promise that protection will be around Asher, and that
he will have peace from all the assaults that may rise up against him. His gates
will be strong and secure, unusually tight protection is awarded him, for this is
what God gives to his people. We have no strength on our own but need strength
from above. Again, we are called to come down from our own self-reliance and
thinking we can do anything on our own. God alone will give us the strength to
make it through today and tomorrow, and for every day. Jesus told us not to be
anxious for tomorrow. Most people worry about what has not happened, and about
that which will not come. Only in their mind is it a reality. When we take each
day fresh as it comes from God’s hand, when we live life at its highest level
and at its best, and when we do what is most important then we can rest in this
statement: Your strength will be equal to your days.”
