Lamentations 3:31, 32
For no one is cast off by the Lord forever. Though he brings grief, he will show compassion, so great is his unfailing love ~ Lamentations 3:31, 32
We live in what is
called a “cancel culture”. In this culture, people are reminded what they had
said or thought earlier in life, even though their thought processes and
beliefs have changed over the years. Forgiveness is not prominent in this
culture, and remorse of the person being attacked makes little, if any
difference in the opinions of those doing the attacking. Cancel Culture is the
popular practice of taking away any form of support of a public figure, a
company, or a political party based on their language or actions which are
objectionable or offensive. It is a way of shaming others. And it is becoming a
rapidly growing way of dealing with what one person dislikes and uses against
another. Unlike our world, our God is compassionate, and if he does cast us
off, it is for our good and not our destruction. The Lord God always is vying
for our betterment as human beings, as children he loves and desires to take on
more of his image than that of the world around us. If I suffer grief at the
hand of the Lord, though it may be difficult for me to bear, I know that what I
am experiencing will not last forever because he is God! The Lord remembers his
people! His mercy is great and his faithfulness follows, and these things we
must remember when we may feel cast off by him. If you have lost hope, if you
feel that God is far away from you, have hope and take courage. Hope always
arises in those who are feeling lost when they turn to the Lord God. His kindness
is to be remembered, for his love is unchangeable and his purposes for us are
eternal.
