John 3:21

But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God ~ John 3:21

An upright person desires truth, seeks truth, and lives in truth. If there is nothing untoward what one is doing, then there is no fear of having a light shine on one’s actions. The person will not hide in the corner, or cover up what they do, say, or act. I once knew a person who said they do not lie. In effect, it was true, but in reality, the statement itself was a lie, for their spoken truth left out very important facts which would say different. So, in their thoughts they were not lying, but if the whole of the facts had been known, they would have been caught red-handed. Deception of truth can be manipulated by the sinner. In this life, that deception may never be known, but one day that person will stand in the sight of God and will have to answer for their lies. You see, it is ultimately God who sees into our heart, and into our living out what we proclaim as truth. Is our truth clear, are our deeds done as if Jesus were standing right there beside you and me? He is our judge and will be so in the time to come. Jesus had been talking with Nicodemus, and here at the end of His discourse, Jesus makes plain that being filled with the Holy Spirit brings us into the presence of God through salvation. When we are Spirit filled people, lies and deception should not be a part of our testimony, but truth, integrity, uprightness, and goodness should be on display for all to see. We are to be people of the Light in Christ Jesus!
