Psalm 91:1, 2

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High

will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,

my God, in whom I trust.” ~ Psalm 91:1, 2

We have been weathering some storms of life this past year and a half. A world filled with Covid has changed us. People have either lived in fear, or outright rebellion ignoring the events of our day. People have dealt in greater ways through anger, hatred, retaliation. Others have lived with depression, anxiety, isolation, and feelings of hopelessness. It has been a rough storm for us all. It has not been easy. We want to do what is best and right, and when we do, we feel as though we are suffering to a greater degree. Stay away from people, we are told, and we feel the intensity of aloneness. Guard you family we are told, and people die alone, and children grow and change in their milestones without our knowledge. Wear a mask we hear, and we miss the smiles and words of our friends and neighbours. Stay out of large settings and groups and our churches close, our outdoor groups dwindle, and sports and campgrounds shut down for youth, along with schools and training places. With God this time has been trying, without God, I cannot imagine. We are called here to rest in his shadow, to trust in him for the tomorrows. His presence is a reminder that he is faithful, and strong, and Lord of all. In this world where there is nothing much to trust in, God is the one and only truth we can rely upon. In him we can and do trust to guide us, to heal us, to save us, to renew us. He is our stronghold, even in times of covid. Amen.
