2 Corinthians 9:6
Remember this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously ~ 2 Corinthians 9:6
Have you ever watched the TV show, “Hoarders”? The show gives us an inside look at how some people just have to hang on to every little thing they get. It isn’t because the things they hang on to are valuable to anyone else, but they are to them, and so, it is very hard to part with whatever it is, including garbage. It is due to a mental health impairment, and it is very sad as most of them have destroyed every relationship they have because of their hoarding. When we take this to the verse above, if we hoard all that we are as a person to ourselves, we have the same outcome as those who hoard stuff. We do not give our compassion, we do not lend a dollar to anyone, we do not go out of our way to help – instead, we want it all to come our way. And then we stock it up in our own heart. We miss out on so much when we live like this. The Apostle Paul tells us to spend what we have on others. Let go of the dollar, let go of your heart, let go of your time, and give it to someone in a generous way. Then what will come back will overflow in your life. You will have people who will share back with you from what they have in their heart. This can be about financial lending, but I think it is most of all about our heart lending. When we enter another’s life and are concerned, great rewards come our way in friendship, in trust, in compassion. If you are sparing with your heart, others will be sparing in their return. Give, but with no counting the gift, just be free in sharing what you have and who you are.
