Isaiah 55:1, 2

“Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labour on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and you will delight in the richest of fare ~ Isaiah 55:1, 2

The prophet is calling his fellow people to come back to what will really satisfy – the Lord God. Until a people do that, they will always be searching in the wrong areas for their fulfillment. We are people just like those is Isaiah’s day. We hunger for a better job, we hunger for a bigger house, we hunger for a bigger bank account, we hunger, and we search, sometimes scratching our way to the top of the worldly ladder. Isaiah is reminding us that our search will be in vain if we buy the wrong bread and work for a job that does not bring us if not joy, at least contentment. He is telling us that when we eat the bread of heaven, that is, when we come to Jesus Christ and give him our all, then and only then will we have the richest and most tasty meal in front of us. There are good things to hunger for in today’s world, such as the ending of covid in our world. But we know we cannot do that on our own; only the Lord God can heal our land. Only the Lord God can heal the spiritual hunger in our heart as well. The things of this world will never satisfy, and never fill us like God's Spirit. There are no costs for God’s blessings! The price was  paid for us on Calvary! Freely, Freely sings the song. “God forgave my sin in Jesus’ name, I’ve been born again in Jesus’ name…He said, ‘Freely, freely you have received’ (Maranatha Music). Come, eat at the table of the Lord!
